At Asante, caring for our communities extends beyond the walls of our facilities. It includes helping prepare for emergencies, supporting the organizations that serve our region every day and continually investing in the safety of our employees, patients and visitors.
Beginning last week, we hosted an emergency preparedness training event for Medford Police Department on our campus, bringing together local law enforcement and public safety partners for hands-on exercises designed to strengthen coordination and readiness in the event of a crisis. We are grateful to our local law enforcement agencies and public safety partners who are dedicated to protecting our communities.
This commitment to preparedness comes at a critical time. Across the country, health care organizations continue to experience rising rates of workplace violence, creating new challenges for health care organizations and caregivers. Ensuring a safe environment for patients, visitors and employees remains one of our highest priorities.
That work recently received an important boost through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) 2025 Nonprofit Security Grant Program. Asante was awarded funding to support enhanced security measures at both hospital campuses, including weapons detection technology and upgraded security camera systems.
These investments will help strengthen our ability to deter, detect and respond to potential threats while maintaining welcoming and accessible environments for those who rely on Asante for care. Combined with ongoing staff training and continued investments in security personnel and infrastructure, these enhancements represent another step forward in our commitment to safety.
We are grateful for the support of our public safety partners, local leaders and federal agencies that recognize the importance of safeguarding our teams and hospitals. As health care continues to evolve, Asante remains committed to proactive planning, strong partnerships and thoughtful investments that help keep our patients, visitors and employees safe every day.
